It's International Women's Day!  Today I feel inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, pictured above.  She is a Nigerian writer and represents, to me, so much of what it means to be a woman.  And I say woman, but I'm really speaking to what it means to be a person, exploring life in a body, on this earth, at this time.

To me, being a woman means,
  • Feeling at home in my body, despite what others say I should look like or act like
  • Appreciating my inherent value as a human being
  • Being able to rejoice in the beauty and accomplishments of other women
  • Not apologizing for opening my mouth or taking up space
  • Knowing that what I want is OK
How about you?  What does it mean to you to be a woman?  Please share in the comments below.  We'd love to hear from you in celebration of International Women's Day.
